I have heard it said more than once that weight loss is effected more by our diets than by exercise. I believe this to be true because when I constantly ate the wrong foods, not only did I feel like a slouch, I also gained excess weight. Even though I exercised several times a week, it couldn’t undo the damage I had already done.
A lot of people who wonder why they are not shedding pounds even though they are exercising regularly may not realize that their diet may be the underlying issue. Ask anyone with six-pack abs what they eat and I bet you they are not eating fast-food, processed food, or other junk for a bulk of their meals. Even if your goal is not to have six-pack abs, my point is that diet plays a big role in our weight loss and fitness goals.
Diet is probably 80% to 90% of what determines your results. Many people have a difficult time getting their diet right. This is why fad diets are so popular because the average person is seeking out a quick fix. They drop a few pounds and think they’ve found the answer. Permanent weight loss is a lifestyle change. You eat foods that are good for you a majority of the time because that is how you live. It isn’t a fad diet that you do every few months.
That is what I really like about Team Beachbody. They don’t focus on one thing to get people fit. They focus on the entire package: nutrition and exercise. Those are the only two things that have long-term, positive results.
